How Do You Have a Successful Finals Week?

Even more miraculous than surviving finals week would be surviving it well—with enough sleep, a healthy diet, and time well managed.

Finals week can be one of the most stressful times in a semester.  The pressures of projects, papers, and exams can be overwhelming.  But as important as good grades are for your future, you need to survive finals week in order to have a future.  We asked BYU students what they do to have a successful finals week.  Here are some of their answers:

Whatever you do during finals week, make sure you’re at least taking care of some basics:

  • Eat well—Don’t eat junk food to stay awake, and don’t skip meals to have an impromptu fast.
  • Get plenty of sleep—Don’t stay up all night studying and expect to be able to remember it the next morning.
  • Take breaks—Don’t just cram for hours.  Have some fun and engaging diversions you can turn to when you start to burn out.
  • Manage your time well—Plan which days you’re going to study which subjects, instead of being overwhelmed at the thought of studying for all your classes, all of the time.
